...the thought of moving out of home for the first time gradually seeped into daily conversations and is sinking into the subconscious mind.

where to go? can i afford it? what does this mean about where my life is headed? does anything change? what is the point?

all very naive questions, since for most of you that are no longer living at home, moving out is not a really big deal. you did it when you were 17 or 18. nothing special, it's been years! but for someone who has had the privilege of sticking around at home, the thought is a little frightening.
where is my life headed? is that even relevant?

a girl sits in the driver's seat of a car at sunset, shifting gears. the dutiful machine responds, gliding along smoothly. the road is created at the contact points of the tyres against the ground. each turn she makes from now will lead her closer to some things, further from some...she realises she will not have it all. at least not all at once.

what does it mean to head towards the path of glory? a lifetime of meaningful chasing after a dream unlikely to become real? or settling into a path of relative comfort and letting the proverbial porcelain vase collect dust for the years to come?

i cannot tell which way it should go. but it's not very healthy i should go questioning myself quite so often about this. it spells uncertainty and a failure to commit. that is not healthy. successful people in that field has begun to make me quite jealous. or frustrated. uneasy. knowing i only have so much time left.

boredoom

it's been a while since i last posted...

great things have been happening outside work, and i am still looking for relevant corporate jobs...this workplace really gets to me whenever i have to complete things by deadlines that just doesn't work. i don't like the us vs. them attitude that splits the firm down to sections, i don't like the fact that the team of people i work with are not really a part of a real team that want to achieve results.

i am happy however at all other aspects of my life.

family and friends time of the year has come and it's great to constantly catch up and hang out etc. wouldn't mind seeing friends a little more since this past month has been a bit busy. but connie's family is here and we've been just chillin' with them a bit.

busy is good. it means i am acting and doing what i love. i auditioned for s+s this year but i don't think i'll get any offers this time around just because i didn't choose a good monologue to do. people tend to like all those emotionally driven pieces which are all fine, it's great, saves time and all, but the idea of choosing a mono to then typecast myself feels slightly odd. wish that the directors would use further audition processes rather than relying on us to work out what kinds of characters they might want. i thought the point of theatre is to create character, tell a story rather than using a mould of a character from some mono, and juxtapose the people together hoping it'll work out.

someone at the audition asked if i was the girl who was in the piece that won best play last year. nop, it wasn't me...but i'm not sure why he wanted to know if i was her. would there be any difference about the way i would then be perceived? (especially that i look nothing like her!)

anyway, filming has been fun. i collected one huge bruise on my left shoulder from staging a faint (at the time it didn't hurt a bit so i am quite surprised it's even there!)

adc - did a show last week and i did ticketing for them. got to see the show.

watched various films which will take too long to comment.

will audition again, and class is back up...i really should study the scene.

ooh....if you want a laugh (or are just plain bored at work), my friend's assignment (starring none other than yours truly) is on youtube if you want to search "ned binley" "documentary" "hairdresser"...there are 2 parts...

btw, it is a MOCKUMENTARY! and it was unscripted. what a fun shoot!

u can comment there...or here...whatever~~ enjoy!

daily grind?

trying to look for work, but not really because what i have works for now. so i am at a rut, but not really...

back to the daily going to work, receiving audition notices and everything else...i went for quite alot of films, but so far not been too successful.

bill gates (i think) said that people fail on an average of 80% of all genuine attempts.

so let's start failing!

it's great to be back in acting class, getting to work on scripts and different people again. very refreshing. especially now that i have one piece that i will willingly show people should they ask that big daunting question:

"so, can i have a look at what you've done?"

and the other short film i did in august, the casting girl didn't take my calls, reply my emails so i don't think i'll be getting the dvd anytime soon...if anytime at all. let's see how that goes...

not slagging at her personally, but i do think that there are many people who just don't have that professionalism about their work. they figure "hey, i'll never have to see them again" or something and just not bothered. it is a stupid dvd. i guess it's nothing new to be rorted as artists, rorted of your time and valuable energy, especially as actors, but it's hard not to find something like that insulting. being outright lied to. even monkeys work for peanuts! we work for FREE, with the prospect of a dvd of the work we participated in! the whole "i'll give you a copy of your work" thing gets batted around like a ping-pong, hot potato race and some haters just couldn't care less. i just hear that waaaay too much and i just think some people lack general courtesy. it's sad when you don't get how mean not doing something as simple as burning a copy of your fellow artist's work onto dvd to give to him/her can really be.

end rant

on a happier note, i am happy! i have started cooking and making asian desserts...and other food which i am researching at the moment. i hope to make some and share it with everyone adn tell you all that "vegetarianism" is not a dirty word describing crazy, OTT puritan lifestyle people and that the food doesn't have to taste like plastic.

plastic? tasted the buns on a maccas burger lately?
