battle of the ad-
wtf is wrong with people who are asking to be paid but not trying to get money?
to be completely unprofessional and all, i will reveal the whole story leaving the parties anon. just to cover my ass. but anyone who knows me knows roughly where i work and what i do...so it can't be that hard to figure out.
i talk to this person from advertising sales (now on referred to as "ass") to put up an ad in the publication. we deliberate over a week over the price, pages, size of the ad, and come up with a conclusion. one that earns him a good commission and gives me the page that is acceptable (coz i got screwed over last time).
all is well, i send through the drafts, he calls me back telling me my account is overdue. i go "huh?" and tried to call him back. no replies. the overdue amount is 300 bucks over my quoted price, so of course i don't go direct to accounts, i go back to him and ask him why. conveniently he's not there for the rest of the afternoon. so he basically froze my ad that's meant to go to print next week, and fails to get back to me for the rest of the day after telling me in simpler terms that "i'm screwing with you again".
ok. fine. life happens. i can understand that sometimes figures and things get confused.
but if my account is overdue enough to have it frozen, i would like to have received at least an invoice (standard tends to be first notice, second notice, final notice with red bold type). a phone call asking me to pay, or to hand in a form if my accounts department hadn't. maybe an email. but no, for the past month, they have been twiddling their thumbs not bothering, and forgot completely to talk to me and tell me to pay up, and now trying to make it my problem.
i'd love to, at this juncture, to tell you the name of the ass i was dealing with. but i wont.
but it does go to show just how much some people can try to get away with...i'm looking into how i can screw his ass over if he pulls this on me again.
